A road sign inside the JNU campus recently named after Veer Savarkar has been found vandalised. The name V D Savarkar was glossed over using black paint and a poster with the words, “Muhammed Ali Jinnah Marg” was pasted at the side of it.

A picture of the same was shared by columnist and Assistant Delhi University professor Abhinav Prakash who called it a handiwork of left-wing vandals.

Incidentally, the signboard had been erected this Sunday (15 March), which resulted in strong protests from the left led JNU students union (JNUSU). The JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh had called it a “shame on JNU’s legacy”.

The signboard is located on the road leading up to the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) campus.

This vandalism has been condemned by the JNU teacher’s federation which has demanded that the culprits be punished.

A few months ago a statue of Swami Vivekananda was vandalised inside the campus. A complaint was later filed with the cops.
