Academics is not the only focus now in schools. Health and Physical Education also is.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has told all its affiliated schools that the list of candidates (LOC) will not be accepted till they submit data on Health and Physical Education (HPE), Times of India has reported.
LOC is the document based on which admit cards for board exams are issued. Thus, the move reveals the seriousness of CBSE regarding HPE.
HPE subject has been introduced this year and it is designed to be a practical course. The CBSE has also issued a detailed manual outlining the content of the course. External evaluators will not be necessary for this course. However, teachers have to maintain data in the form of a ‘health and activity card’. The format of this card will be communicated to schools soon.
Social empowerment through work and education (SEWA) is also a part of the HPE course. This part of the course aims to develop the intellectual, personal, social and emotional growth of students.
