Clearing the suspense surrounding the government’s plan to withdraw restrictions imposed in the Kashmir Valley in light of the revocation of Jammu & Kashmir’s (J&K’s) special status, the Chief Secretary of the state, B V R Subramanyam said curbs will be lifted in a phased manner, reports The Times of India.

Subramanyam revealed that after this weekend, schools and other educational institutions in the Valley would be opened area by area. Government offices have already begun to operate normally and public transport services will also commence functioning as usual in the days to come.

He also stated that telecom connectivity will be slowly restored across the valley, but that it would not be be brought back immediately owing to concerns about terror networks exploiting it to launch attacks.
