A scandalous sex video featuring two of its lead activists has come as huge embarrassment to the Makkal Athikaram, the NGO spearheading the anti-Sterlite protest movement in Thoothukudi, Deccan Chronicle has reported.

A secretly recorded sex video of English professor turned environmental activist Professor Fathima Babu, projected as the face of the anti-Sterlite protests by a section of media and her comrade-in arms Thermal Raja, found its way to the social media.

The video was alleged to have been tapped when the two were staying in a star hotel in Chennai as part of their awareness and advocacy efforts to force the closure of Sterlite plant in Tuticorin.

Prof. Fathima Babu recently made a guest appearance in actor Vijay Joseph’s Sarkar were she was featured as a radical revolutionary working selflessly to effect societal transformation.

Angry protests were staged by a section of fishermen led by their former corporation councillor, Golden, staged a demonstration in front of Fathima’s house at Thoothukudi.

Prof Fathima Babu claimed that the video was systematic conspiracy aimed at discrediting the anti- Sterlite movement.

Prof. Fathima Babu has faced allegation that she operates in tandem with pressure group Foil Vedanta, a London based group working against the Vedanta group which, through its sustained campaign, succeeded in persuading many shareholders to divest from the Vedanta group.

She has also been accused of operating on behalf of powerful Church groups which have been in the forefront of mobilising agitation. Christian Evangelists like Mohan C. Lazarus have played considerable role In stoking fears against Sterlite plant using communal propaganda.
