Shri Vishwakarma Skill University Launches ‘Abhinandan’ Scheme For Benefit Of Widows And Children Of Martyred Personnel

Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU), Haryana has come up with a new scheme called the ‘Abhinandan: Veer Balidani Kritagyata Yojna (AVBKY)‘ which is aimed at improving educational opportunities for widows and children of martyrs, as well as wives and wards of those security forces’ personnel who have received gallantry awards, reports The Indian Express.
The varsity plans to add one per cent supernumerary seats on top of the approved intake in order to accommodate the said relatives of personnel. The scheme is to be implemented from the coming academic session in 2019-20.
Moreover, selected candidates under the scheme would also not need to pay any charges for course fee, books, hostel, food and travel.
Candidates eligible to apply under the scheme would be able to choose from any of the courses on offer at SVSU. The university will also create a separate fund to pay for expenses incurred on the education of AVBKY beneficiaries.
Money for the fund will be brought in from various sources such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from corporates, voluntary public donations, as well as through the utilisation of discretionary funds with the university.
