Senior journalist, editor and activist Gauri Lankesh was shot dead on 5 September at her residence in Bengaluru.
The special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh has rubbished a media report which had speculated a link between her killers and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal - Sadhvi Pragya, Press Trust of India has reported.
Indian Express had carried a report yesterday (8 May) which had claimed a link between Sadhvi Pragya and the suspected murderers who were allegedly trained in bomb making by Samjhauta Express, Mecca Masjid, Ajmer Dargah and Malegaon blast accused.
The SIT has been quick to counter the sensational report and has issued a statement to the tune that, “ SIT has not found in its investigation or mentioned in the charge sheet any link to Sadhvi Pragya, Malegaon blasts, Abhinav Bharat. There is no evidence to suggest the same. No documents purporting the same have been submitted to the Hon'ble Court”.
In total SIT has arrested 16 suspects in connection with the crime, while two are still absconding.
