Six Young Women From AP Arrive In Sabarimala For Darshan, Sent Packing After Intense Protests By Devotees

Six women hailing from Andhra Pradesh who reached Pamba to enter Sabarimala yesterday (5 November) returned due to strong protests and after the police and devotees explained about the situation, reports Mathrubhumi.
However, reports suggest that the women were offered police protection if they decide to proceed towards darshan, but they withdrew since the protests were intensifying.
As per the reports, a group of 32 had arrived at Pampa from Andhra. They came by KSRTC bus from Nilakkal. They were informed about the protests going on, by the police and devotees.
The women then returned to Nilakkal and waited for their team to return after darshan. However, a few devotees from Thrissur were stopped, suspecting that they were below the age of 50, but were helped by police and devotees once they were found above 50.
No woman in the age group of 10 and 50 have so far entered Sabarimala since the 28 September verdict of Supreme Court that took away the centuries-old tradition that restricted the entry of women of the particular age group from the temple sanctum.
