In a move to make commuters’ lives easier, a new skywalk equipped with travelators is soon coming up to connect the Pink Line’s Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus station with the Airport Express Line’s Dhaula Kuan station, reports the Financial Express. Earlier commuters had to journey 1.2 km via road to reach one station from the other.

The new skywalk will stretch from the Durgabai Deshmukh station platform on one end to the concourse level of Dhaula Kuan station. There will be a curved roof semi-covering the skywalk and the sides will be flanked by aluminium louvres. It will also have glass railings along with CCTV cameras.

The Durgabai Deshmukh station had opened for public use in March this year and provides connectivity till the Majlis Park station via the Pink Line. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s managing director Mangu Singh had proposed the construction of a travelator-equipped skywalk to connect the two stations,

The plan was to have the skywalk ready by September, but that deadline could not be met due to several constraints such a temporary curb on construction activity to check pollution and construction activity being permitted only during the day.
