To add a whole new dimension to the intra-connectivity of the National Capital Region(NCR), the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project is being fast tracked, thanks to the speedy approval by the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government, reports Financial Express.

Once operational, the commuting time between Delhi-Meerut will be reduced to just around 55 minutes. The high speed RRTS connect the NCR with Delhi and all its neighbouring nodes, will boast of a frequency of 5-10 minutes.

The Commissioner of Meerut recently convened a meeting to overcome roadblocks for smooth progress of the RRTS corridor that connects the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut cluster.

To ensure the project is completed within schedule, all the departments and agencies have asked to work in synergy, thus avoiding huge cost escalation due to project delays.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), nodal agency of the mega project, sent the detailed project report (DPR) of the Delhi-Alwar RRTS project to Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan governments in December 2018.

While the Central government and Haryana have given their approval for the project, the governments of Delhi and Rajasthan are still non-committal.
