A bus ran over seven people, including four women and three children, in the early hours of Friday (11 October) morning in Bulandshahr, reports The Indian Express.
The victims were returning from Vaishno Devi pilgrimage and had stopped at Gandhi Ghat to sleep on the pavement. According to the police, all seven people died on the spot when a speeding bus ran over them around 4 am.
“Some of the passengers from a bus carrying pilgrims decided to sleep on the pavement. Another bus came from Sambhal area and was allegedly speeding and ran over the ones sleeping on the footpath. The bus has been seized but the driver is absconding”, said SSP Bulandshahr. Santosh Kumar Singh.
The bodies have been sent for post mortem and a case of rash driving and death due to negligence has been filed, said the Police.
