Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue inaugurated in October last year is in for major upgrades as it nears its first anniversary with the government having planned as many as 30 peripheral projects around the state, Financial Express has reported.
A grand event has also been planned to mark the first anniversary of the statue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for these projects.
The state administration is reportedly moving at a breakneck pace to complete various projects like Ekta Mall, a butterfly park, a nutrition park, a mirror maze, several state bhavans, Shreshth Bharat Bhavan, a safari park, a tent city and a tribal museum among the 30 projects that are planned.
An aerodrome terminal at Pond 3 of the Narmada dam premises may also be inaugurated at the occasion with the Gujarat government having allocated Rs 5 crore for the project.
Inaugurated on 31 October last year, the 600-foot-tall statue is located in the Narmada district of Gujarat and is three-and-a half kilometres away from Kevadia town and about 200 km from Ahmedabad. Being twice the size of the Statue of Liberty in New York, the statue has attracted a regular stream of visitors since then.
