Street Vendors In Mysuru To Get GPS-enabled Licence, ID Card, Can Avail Government Benefits As Well

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is planning to use GPS-enabled vending licences to regulate their trade, reports Deccan Herald. MCC started a survey in Mysuru in September to survey to provide GPS- enabled vending licences and identity cards with QR code to street vendors.

Street vendors needed to submit their applications for the vending licence and identity cards by 30 October. The vendors had to send their form along with documents like the photo identity card, BPL ration card, Aadhaar card, caste certificate, bank passbook and photographs of family members, family details, location and time of business, etc.

The street vendors cannot conduct business without their licence and identity card while doing business. Officials can trace the location and details on the government schemes availed by the vendor through the GPS enabled identity card and licence. Despite having details about family members, the identity card and permit will be issued to a single person. However, the person, or his family members, can run the business in the allotted place. The identity card will keep a check upon street vendors from renting their pushcarts to others.

The President of Karnataka State Street Vendors Maha Mandala Baskar Srinivas Raje Urs said, “There are nearly 6,000 street vendors in the city. The identity card and licence will be useful to street vendors. This will also help the street vendors and their family members to avail various government benefits.” He said the identity cards and licence will also check misuse in business.
