Supreme Court Expresses Concern Over Taj Mahal’s Colour, Says It Was Yellow, Now Turning Brown And Green

The Supreme Court of India today (1 May) expressed concern on the changing colour of the Taj Mahal in Agra, reports PTI. The apex court said that the monument, considered one of the seven wonders of the world had earlier turned a shade of yellow and now was turning greenish and brownish. The court has now suggested that the Centre call in international expert to fix the issue.
The court expressed its opinions after it examined photographs placed by petitioner M C Mehta. It has asked additional solicitor general A N S Nadkarni, representing the government why the colour of the seventeenth century monument had changed.
The court has decided that the matter would be heard further by 9 May. The petitioner has asked for the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to ensure that the monument is protected from pollution and deforestation.
