Bhopal Metro project has started its initial pile test to confirm design load calculations and provide guidelines for the limits of acceptance as the project progresses, reports Metro Rail News.
The project managed by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co. Limited (MPMRC) conducted its first test on 25 April.
Grand celebrations marked the test and a pooja ceremony was performed where all the employees and directors of MPMRC were present. The project approved by the centre in October (2018) is estimated to cost Rs 6941.40 crores and will take four years to complete.
The Metro will have two corridors, with a cumulative length of 27.87 Km. While the Karond Circle to AIIMS corridor will run for 14.99 Km, Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri Tiraha line will run for 12.88 Km. These two corridors will connect major public nodes and city cluster areas of Bhopal
The Karond to AIIMS corridor will mostly be elevated and partly underground and will have 16 Stations (14-Elevated and 2-Underground). The Bhadbhada to Ratnagiri Tiraha line will have all-elevated 14 stations.
The Metro will be eco-friendly and provide sustainable public transport to residents, commuters, industrial workers, visitors, and travellers.
