Tata Sky, Airtel Digital TV and Dish TV have launched sports packs ahead of the upcoming IPL season but they face stiff competition from online streaming giant Hotstar, India Today has reported.

As per the report, Tata Sky has launched a Family Sport HD pack which costs Rs 646 per month under which one gets 96 channels including all sports channels from Star, Sony and more which thereby covers the IPL quota.

One can also choose the standard definition (SD) variant of this pack which costs about Rs 456 per month. One can also avail other packs like Family Kids Sports and premium English Sports packs.

Incidentally, some regional plans like Marathi Hindi Basic Pack also offer Star Sports channels which are enough for watching IPL. It costs Rs 338 per month.

Airtel Digital TV has similarly launched various packs one of which is My Sports HD Pack, which costs Rs 493 per month. Apart from sports channels this pack also provides SD channels across a variety of genres like news, movies, kids and infotainment.

Dish TV is offering a Maxi Sports Pack which offers sports, kids and Hindi entertainment channels at Rs 326 per month.

Customers can also avail ala-carte channels and Star’s broadcaster packs which cost Rs 49 per month for SD and Rs 85 per month for HD and provide all channels which cover cricket.

In the day and age when access to unlimited fast internet has become the norm, the DTH providers would face stiff competition from Hotstar which is providing access to all sports streams including IPL, other cricket tournaments, Premier League and Formula 1 at the cost of Rs 365 per year.
