After operations conducted by the Afghanistan army, almost 900 people, including Islamic State fighters and members of their families have surrendered to Afghan security forces in the past fortnight.
Among those surrendered, the majority of them are Pakistani national and the list also includes ten Indians which including women and children, reports Hindustan Times.
They all surrendered to Afghan national security in the eastern province of Nangarhar, where the operations was conducted against the IS. Several Indian-origin IS fighters are believed to be active in Nangarhar and few have died in air strikes and operations conducted by Afghan special forces
The operation was launched on 12 November resulting in 93 IS members, including 13 Pakistani nationals, lay down their arms.
The Indian women and children are all members of families of Indian fighters, most of whom are from Kerala and had shifted to Kabul.
“We are evaluating them one by one. More details will emerge once this process is finished,” said an official in Kabul who declined to be identified.
Over a dozen men from Kerala travelled to Afghanistan to join IS and some of them were had converted to Islam recently and several men took their wives and children with them.
