Tenure Of Senior Railway Officer Who Sought Complementary Passes Of IPL Curtailed By PM Modi-Headed ACC

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-headed Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has curtailed the central deputation of senior bureaucrat Gopal Krishan Gupta, who had sought complementary passes for Indian Premier League (IPL) matches from Delhi cricket association, and sent him back to his cadre - railway ministry, reports Times of India.
According to the report, without mentioning any reason, an order issued by the personnel ministry has said that the ACC has approved premature repatriation of Gupta with immediate effect.
Gupta, who is a 1987 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), was posted as the joint secretary in the ministry of new and renewable energy.
As per the report, Gupta in March had sought complementary passes of an IPL match from Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rajat Sharma’s office, according to an official communique. However, after not getting a desired response Gupta wrote a letter to Sharma on 3 April, detailing the sequence of events.
He reportedly mentioned discussion between Sharma’s executive assistant Sapna Soni and his personal staff.
"I do not know whether this episode and the sequence of events as narrated above has been brought to your notice and whether your executive assistant had informed you about my call and my request for arrangement of passes," Gupta said in a letter to Sharma, as reported by TOI.
"May I request that your office staff may show courtesy in such matters and give timely feedback even if the response is not affirmative. I think, we must have mutual respect for the positions being held by us," his letter reads.
According to the report, the decision on curtailing Gupta’s tenure is said to have come after the copy of the letter was shared on a public platform.
