Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar, on 22 December (Saturday), said that the centre was working on setting up a board which is meant to combine Vedic studies with modern ones.

“We wish to set up a board to enrich the Indian education system by combining both modern and Vedic studies. We are working towards it,” said Javadekar in a video on the inauguration of Eastern India’s first “International Vedic Pathashala.”

Javadekar cited Vedic studies being a combination of sociology, science and behavioural sciences. Furthermore, he claimed that studying Vedic literature without any interest in modern sciences is not desirable, but a combination of both is ideal for the development of human resources, as per reports by Indian Express.

An institution under the Union Human Resource Development Ministry, Sandipani Ved Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain, is currently educating over 6,000 students on Vedic studies.

Mentioning the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) Traditions and Practices of India (KTPI), Javadekar said that the centre is trying to popularise the existing course amongst students.
