Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar have been shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir by an assailant in Kishtwar, India Today has reported. The reason for the killing is not known.
State BJP secretary Ashok Kaul has claimed that the two had been murdered by terrorists. BJP workers protested in Kishtwar and Baderwah regions of the state after the incident.
“Shocked & pained by the killing of J&K State BJP leader Sh Anil Parihar & his brother. My heart goes out to the bereaved family. Spoke to Advisor to J&K Governor, Sh Vijay Kumar regarding the incident. The police will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his condolences on Twitter.
The SSP of Kishtwar Rajinder Gupta has confirmed the incident and said that a manhunt for the assailants was on. Army and Special Operations Group joint group has launched a massive search operation in the area. The deputy commissioner has ordered a massive search operation in the area.
