No Reclaiming History? BJP Government Hasn’t Rewritten History Textbooks Since 2014, Says HRD Minister

The new education policy that aims at bringing about a revolution in education is ready in the form of a zero draft. The policy aims at ‘creating good human beings’ in India between 2020 and 2040, reported India Today.
Speaking at an event in Delhi, Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar went on to dismiss any allegations that the NDA government was attempting at saffronising education through Hindutva ideology. He went on to add that the government isn’t trying to rewrite history in the textbooks, and that all religions will find their place in the policy.
Commenting on the philosophy of Hindutva, Javadekar said, “All religions...Hindutva is not bad...All religions teach brotherhood. All religions teach tolerance. India is proud to have a civilisation...We welcomed all religions. This is the only land which never tries to convert anyone from any religion.”
He went on to add that, “Human values needs to be taught. We have to tell about human values based on real history, real geography that builds a good human being.”
He claimed that the government hasn’t rewritten a single chapter of history in the four years of its rule.
On the accusation of the RSS appointing the heads of academic institutions, Javadekar was reported as saying, “Appointments are made by committees of experts and in my meeting with the committee, I tell them that there is no recommendation from my side or so there is no recommendation from anybody. Let us evaluate the person with vision and leadership.”
