The Tide Turns In Kashmir: Locals Pelt Stones On Terrorists, Thwart Bank Robbery

A major bank robbery was thwarted in Noorpora in Kashmir today (5 December), when terrorists had to face the local populations ire when they tried to loot a local Jammu And Kashmir bank’s branch, as reported by ANI.
The three terrorists, one of whom was Zakir Musa, the leader of a newly created Al-Qaida cell in Kashmir, entered the bank and started ransacking the building after firing a few shots.
As the locals heard the shots, a crowd gathered and started pelting stones on the terrorists, who had seemingly come armed with the motive of a big heist. But seeing the public retaliation, they had to retreat with only Rs. 97,000.
The terrorists also fired upon the locals while escaping.
In July, former Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Musa was announced as the head of Ansar Ghazwat-Ul-Hind, which is affiliated with the Al-Qaida, and is supposed to lead it’s jihad in Kashmir.
Munir Khan, the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir hailed the local effort in stopping the crime, saying "Terrorists entered the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Tral's Noorpora, and they obviously wanted to loot public money. Compliments to the people as they resisted very bravely that made the terrorists retreat".
The security agencies in Kashmir have been on an social outreach in Kashmir, along with the ongoing operations against the terrorists. The twin initiatives have seen terrorists getting frustrated leading to such crimes. However, the recent events suggest that the locals can see through the terrorist motives.
