Heavily armed fighters stormed a hotel in Pakistan’s port city of Gwadar in the restive Balochistan province on Saturday evening, which led to a gunbattle in which four people including three attackers are killed, reports Zee News.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed the responsibility of the attack. Junaid Baloch, spokesperson of BLA, said that this attack is the handiwork of its Majeed Brigade group.

According to the local police, the attackers entered the hotel at around 4.50pm and fired randomly, killing a guard at the entrance. Following this, an encounter between the armed men and anti-terrorism forces and naval commandos ensued as the counter operation was rushed in by the security agencies.

Gwadar port is the hot-spot of the $50 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC) and many Chinese workers teem the place. The hotel hosts many business and leisure travellers. All the guests are said to safely evacuated as of now.

Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan, is rich in natural resources. Many people in the province wants secession from Pakistan as they consider Islamabad and Rawalpindi (Pakistani Army headquarter) as illegal occupiers.

Systematic networks of Baloch nationalists like the BLA have carried out umpteen attacks on the Pakistani armed forces and Chinese workers. The group was also involved in the terrorist attack at the Chinese consulate in Karachi last year.
