Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has completed 70 per cent of the work in the projects that it undertook using the funds granted by the Government of Karnataka since the year 2016-17, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka Dr G Parameshwara has said.

Over a span of three years, the state government has provided BBMP with Rs 9,978 crore under the Chief Minister’s Nagarothana Scheme. In the latest budget, Rs 2,500 crore has been granted. The works include launching roads that have white-topping and are done through TenderSURE, solid waste management, management of storm-water drains etc.

On Friday, January 4, at a review meeting conducted, the Deputy Chief Minister said that nearly 30 per cent of the work has been left undone due to land acquisition issues. He is also the Bengaluru development minister. Parameshwara then directed the officials to finish the roads by May. Additionally, he said, 59,861 people have been sent notices for not paying their taxes. BBMP has collected Rs 36 crore from 113 tax defaulters, Deccan Herald reported him as stating.

Regarding the steel flyover issue, he said a meeting will be held with all stakeholders and the public before proceeding with the project.
