The policeman who was missing post the avalanche near Jawahar Tunnel in Kulgam district two days ago was found dead on 9 February (Saturday). A search and rescue team has recovered his body.
The avalanche hit a police post which is in the north portal of Jawahar Tunnel in Kulgam district on 7 February (Thursday). While 10 cops were able to rush to safety, 10 others were trapped.
The corpses of five police officers and two prisoners were retrieved by the search and rescue team on 8 February (Friday), reported Indian Express.
Heavy snowfall across Kashmir on 6 and 7 February triggered avalanches and snowslides at many places in the hilly areas of the valley.
