Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray
The total Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra crossed the 1 lakh mark on Friday (12 June) to stand at 1,01,141 after the state recorded 3,493 new positive cases, ANi has reported.
Out of these total cases 47,793 patients have been discharged till date after they made a full recovery. The death toll in the state currently stands at 3,493.
Maharashtra is the worst affected Indian state amid the Covid-19 pandemic with the state capital Mumbai reporting 52,667 cases and 1,857 deaths.
Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had hinted that the lockdown may continue of people violate social distancing norms.
“Lockdown may continue if this happens. But I am confident people will listen to the government’s rules and guidelines since it is taking care of their welfare”, Uddhav Thackeray was quoted as saying.
