Tripura’s Road To Bangladesh Over Feni River: CM Biplab Deb Demands Faster Bridge Construction

Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday (1 November) inspected the progress of the construction work on the bridge over Feni river connecting India and Bangladesh and instructed the construction authority to expedite matters, NorthEast Now has reported.
The bridge over Feni river will connect Tripura’s Sabroom town to Ramgarh located in Khagrachari district of Bangladesh.
Deb visited the site to instruct the construction authority to expedite the work on the bridge as the rainy season is over in Tripura.
Construction of the bridge is essential for the complete operationalisation of the Sabroom-Ramgarh LCS.
CM said that four out of the total ten pillars have been completed and authorities have been instructed to complete the remaining work in next one-month to finish the work ahead of time.
The foundation stone of the bridge was jointly laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka in June 2015.
The 150 m long bridge which will join the North-Eastern region of India to rest of the country via Bangladesh is expected to cost Rs 94 crore.
The bridge is being funded by the Government of India under the grant assistance to Bangladesh, and the construction authority of the bridge is National Highways and Infrastructure Development Authority of India (NHIDCL).
