TRS leaders have expressed their displeasure over West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee ‘hijacking’ the idea of a federal front, which was initially proposed by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao according to a report in Deccan Chronicle.
Going by the recent developments, Rao does not seem to be interested in the front anymore, especially if the Congress is made a part of it. During the recent no-confidence motion moved by TDP, the TRS abstained from voting.
Banerjee is expected to hold a rally in Kolkata and will be visiting New Delhi on 31 July to invite all non-BJP parties to the rally. It is expected that she would also extend an invitation to TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao.
Rao had earlier not attended the swearing in ceremony of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy which was seen as a platform to showcase opposition unity.
In March, Rao had called for a federal front to take on the BJP and had sought support of other parties starting with Mamata Banerjee. However, it is reported that Banerjee was non committal to a front which did not include the Congress. TRS had responded that it is ‘totally unacceptable’ to include the Congress in the front as it is the principle opposition party in Telangana.
