Hindu US lawmaker Tulsi Gabbard on Wednesday (18 September) slammed controversial journalist Rana Ayyub for spreading misinformation over her not attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega rally in the US.

Ayyub attempted to target BJP supporters by citing a news article to insinuate that Gabbard was trying to distance herself from Modi by refusing an invitation to the Howdy Modi event.

This drew a sharp reaction from Gabbard who cleared the air by saying that she is unable to attend the event due to prior campaign commitments. Gabbard is aspiring to be the Presidential candidate of the Democratic party.

Gabbard also stated that she hopes to meet Prime Minister Modi during his US trip to further improve bilateral relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi would address the Howdy Modi rally on 22 September, he would be joined by Donald Trump. Over 50,000 seats for this rally have been sold out.
