An earthquake with magnitude of 4.1 at the richter scale was reported to have hit Diglipur in Andaman and Nicobar islands on Sunday Morning (28 June), according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
The quake hit near Diglipur at about 8:56am at a depth of 45 kilometres, it was reported.
However, no immediate loss of life and property was reported in the Union Territory (UT).
Hours after the tremors were felt in parts of the UT, another earthquake with magnitude of 4 at the richter scale hit the state of Manipur near Ukhrul. This quake was reported to have hit the region at 11:24am at a depth of nearly 60 kilometres from the surface.
A number of earthquakes have struck in various parts of the country in recent days with two low-intensity ones having been reported from Haryana's Rohtak and Jammu and Kashmir's Hanle yesterday.
National capital Delhi, in particular, has felt tremors over 15 times in past two months with magnitude ranging between 3 and 5 at the richter scale.
