Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that the scheme would encourage research culture and innovation in educational institutions and help students, faculty to contribute towards the economy with collaborative research.
STRIDE aims to identify young talent, strengthen research culture, promote innovation and support trans-disciplinary research. It will also fund multi-institutional network high-impact research projects in humanities and human sciences.
The STRIDE has three components under which research projects would receive grants between Rs 50 lakh to Rs 5 crore. To encourage top quality impact research in humanities, UGC has a provision to identify experts and invite them to develop proposals. The UGC has also proposed to render a grant of Rs 2 lakh for the same.
