Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has tested positive for novel coronavirus, the Minister tweeted on Thursday (20 August).
Taking to Twitter, Shekhawat said he had gotten himself tested after seeing some symptoms of Covid-19 and the report has turned out to be positive. He has been admitted to a hospital on doctors' advice, he added.
"I had taken a corona test after seeing some signs of illness and my report turned out to be positive. I am hospitalised on the advice of doctors. I request that those who have come in contact with me in the past, isolate themselves and get themselves tested. May all of you be healthy and take care of yourself,"his tweet read.
The Bharatiya Janata Party MP represents Rajasthan's Jodhpur assembly in the Lok Sabha.
Shekhawat had yesterday met Haryana Chief Minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Ratan Lal Kataria and other officials to mediate in a meeting between the states of Punjab and Haryana over the construction of Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal and water sharing.
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh had attended the meeting via video conferencing.
Recently several senior politicians have tested positives including former President Pranab Mukherjee, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
While some of them have recovered of the disease, President Mukherjee's health condition is still critical.
