The renovation and modernisation works consisted of En-Masse Coolant Channel Replacement (EMCCR), En Masse Feeder Replacement (EMFR) and other safety upgrades. It has been reported that the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), the Nuclear Fuel Complex and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre along with assorted vendors/contractors contributed in achieving this unique milestone.
The KAPS, consisting of two indigenous units of 220 MW PWHR, is located in Surat district of Gujarat. Two more units of 700 MW PWHR are under construction at the site with the plant being operated by NPCIL.
