UP government has already allotted 2,000 square meter land for construction of the ATS Commando Centre at Deoband


Eighteen highly-trained ATS officers from across Uttar Pradesh will be stationed at an Anti-Terrorism Squad commando centre which will come up at Deoband, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has announced.

In a post on Twitter, Shalabh Mani Tripathi, information adviser to Adityanath tweeted on Tuesday (17 August) that the work on setting up the ATS commando centre has begun.

Tripathi pointed out that the decision has been taken by the Adityanath government amid brutality by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

ANI mentioned in a post on Twitter that that the UP government has allotted 2,000 square meter land for construction of the ATS Commando Centre. Deoband is located in Saharanpur district of western UP.

According to this report, when speaking on move, UP ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said,

Times Now has said in a report on its website that politicians from the ruling BJP's opposition have opposed the move. It says that "Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput has slammed the Yogi government over the decision..." The report adds that Samajwadi Party's Vivek Silas described the move "as communal and divisive".
