UP And Rajasthan Announce Rs 25-Lakh Relief, Jobs And Property For Kin Of Soldiers Slain In Pulwama Attack

The state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have both announced ex-gratia payment of Rs 25 lakh to each of the families of those CRPF soldiers martyred in the Pulwama attack on Thursday (14 February 2019), reports The New Indian Express and Business Standard. At least one member from each of the affected families will also be given a job.

The announcement in Uttar Pradesh was made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, whose government will also be renaming roads leading up to the respective villages of the martyrs. Twelve soldiers from the state have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Adityanath also took out time to attend the last rites of the martyrs personally. He further issued directions to state ministers, SPs and DMs to also be in attendance at the funerals in the respective districts.

In Jaipur

The announcement of the payments to soldiers’ families in Rajasthan was made by state Soldiers Welfare Minister Pratap Singh Kachariyawas. He announced that the soldiers’ wives could also instead choose to take Rs 1 lakh along with 25 bighas of land or Rs 1 lakh plus a Middle Income Group (MIG) house.

Additionally, Kachariyawas stated that Rs 3 lakh would be given to each martyr’s parents and a job will be provided to each of the affected families.

The minister also paid tribute to the soldiers’ sacrifice at the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the state secretariat in Jaipur.

The Pulwama attack was a suicide bombing in which a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist rammed his explosive laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy near Pulwama martyring more than 40 soldiers.
