Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and father Mulayam Singh Yadav have started packing bags after failing to secure more time to ‘look for a new house’. The Supreme Court, in its order of 7 May, had asked all former Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh to vacate the bungalows allotted to them in 15 days.
The father-son duo had moved the apex court seeking more time to look for a new place to move in. When asked why he was unable to find a place in time, he challenged the media to "find him a place".
"We are ready to vacate but we need more time, both netaji (Mulayam Singh) and I don't have any place to live in Lucknow. If you can find a place for us let us know," the former chief minister snapped.
According to reports, the former Chief Minister is likely to move to government guesthouse for a few days before moving into a new place.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Mayawati has vacated her government bungalow located on the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg. However, the house that she has vacated is not the one she was served notice for.
The Uttar Pradesh government had sent her a notice after Supreme Court’s order, asking her to vacate the house located on the Mall Avenue.
Mayawati continues to use the house and has put up a hoarding outside declaring it a memorial dedicated to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kashi Ram to dodge the government orders. The party claimed that Mayawati occupied just two rooms of the bungalow now renamed ‘Kanshi Ram Ji Yadgar Vishram Sthal’.
