UP Government Contests Stay On Appointment Of 69,000 Basic Teachers Before A Higher Bench Of Allahabad HC

Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has contested the stay on the appointment of 69,000 assistant basic teachers by a single-bench of the Allahabad High Court (HC), Hindustan Times reported on Sunday (7 June).
The special appeal, filed by the Examination Regularity Authority (ERA) on behalf of the state, has been scheduled to be heard on 9 June before justices Pankaj Jaiswal and Dinesh Kumar Singh-led division bench.
The ERA has claimed that the order by the single-bench was “unwarranted and illegal”.
Earlier on 3 June, a bench of Justice Alok Mathur stayed the appointment process. The bench took into cognisance allegations by several petitioners that a few questions and answers were ambiguous and wrong and their demand of a fresh scrutiny by the UGC.
Petitioners, many of whom were the rejected candidates, said that “on the face of it were erroneous, certain answers incorrect, some questions were ambiguous and a few of them debatable or argumentative and hence had multiple correct answers”.
They said that the aspirants should have been given the marks for such questions.
