Senior Samajwadi Party leader and leader of opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Ram Govind Chaudhary has promised to provide pensions and awards to anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) protesters for “protecting the constitution”, ABP News has reported.
As per reports, Chaudhary also promised to give compensation those who were killed and incarcerated in the riots. The protesters would also be hailed as Samvidhan Rakshaks (protectors of constitution).
This olive branch announcement comes after the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has announced stringent action against rioters which includes major arrests and property seizure notices.
