UP: Yogi Cabinet Announces New Agriculture Export Promotion Policy To Double Exports By 2024

Announcing a major policy push for the agriculture sector of Uttar Pradesh (UP), the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led state government has set an ambitious target to double the agriculture exports from the state by 2024, reports UNI India.

The UP cabinet, chaired by CM Adityanath, on Tuesday (10 September) approved the ‘Agriculture Export Promotion Policy 2019’ with the aim of increasing farmers’ income and doubling the agriculture exports of the state, from current Rs 17, 591 crore worth of exports, by 2024.

As per the government's spokesperson Shrikant Sharma, the announced policy aims to make a holistic push for the state's agriculture sector by incentivising farmers, while also dealing with marketing aspects to increase the exports from the state.

Apart from the agri-export policy, the UP cabinet also announced setting up a target of procuring 50 metric tonnes of paddy from farmers of the state in the procurement cycle, beginning on 1 October and lasting till 29 February 2020.
