Delay in execution of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal (CST) - Panvel elevated corridor may delay the airport link of the metro, MetroRailNews has reported. This metro line was supposed to link the Mumbai Airport with the upcoming Navi Mumbai airport. As per the plan, the airport line will be running parallel to the CST-Panvel corridor. The line begins at Mankhurd and has an intersection at Nerul.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) official told MetroRailNews that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was preparing a report on the project. He added that the metro cannot be constructed without the completion of the CST-Panvel elevated corridor.
MMRDA has planned to run the airport line round the clock. This will be beneficial to passengers who have a connecting flight. However, the frequency of the trains at night might be lesser. This project is likely to ease the traffic and reduce commuting times for air passengers.
