The Bihar state police on Thursday (11 October) arrested a man for throwing a slipper at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at an event in Patna. The report claimed that Chandan hurled the slipper as a sign of protest against the current reservation policy. Nitish Kumar was lucky to escape it as it missed him by a few metres.
After hurling the slipper Chandan was noticed by several workers of Janata Dal (United). Soon, he was surrounded by a crowd which ended up thrashing him. He was later handed over to the cops.
Nitish Kumar was seated alongside JD(U) president Vashishtha Narayan Singh in an event at Patna, Financial Express reported. Here is a video of the exchange.
While being dragged away by the police, Chandan told the media present at the event that he was there to express protest against the reservation policy that is very discriminatory in nature. He was quoted as saying, “Reservation helps even the better off among the SCs, STs, and OBCs… and the poor among the Dalits have been left to fend for themselves.”
