US Sikhs Give Thumbs-Up To Modi Government: Praise Kartarpur Corridor, Conviction Of 1984 Perpetrators

The Sikh community in America has expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Modi after he laid the foundation stone for the Kartarpur corridor in Punjab, reports Deccan Herald.
‘Sikhs of America’ (SOA) organisation, in a resolution addressed to the Prime Minister, said, "We the Sikh diaspora are thankful to Narendra Modi and his government for realising the long-cherished dream of Sikhs in India and abroad and laying the foundation stone for the Kartarpur corridor on 26 November 2018,"
"Since the foundation stone was laid on the Pakistan side also, Sikhs across the globe are looking forward to the much-anticipated pilgrimage," the resolution added.
An event was organised by the organisation in the Maryland suburb of Washington where they presented a copy of the resolution to the senior officials of the Indian embassy.
The highly anticipated corridor will connect Darbar Sahib Gurudwara in Pakistan’s Kartarpur with the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur, India. It will also facilitate visa-free movement of Indian Sikh Pilgrims to the Gurudwara established by Guru Nanak in 1522.
"For the last few months, good news has been coming for the Sikh community in India and abroad," said SOA Chairman Jasdip Singh while praising the role of Indian government in bringing the perpetrators of 1984 anti-Sikh riots to justice.
"We are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. However, there is lot to be done," said Singh, hoping that other involved politicians would also be brought to justice.
