In Uttar Pradesh’s Dilari, Peepli Umarpur village, father whose minor daughter was abducted was beaten to death by the family members of the accused, reports Amar Ujala.

After post mortem, the family members of the victim blocked the Karanpur chauraha in the village and held protests. Members of Hindu Raksha Dal also reached the area and joined the protest. The fact that the victim Gangaram and accused family belonged to different communities has given rise to communal tension in the area.

Village resident Gangaram’s 15-year-old daughter went missing on the night of 18/19 June. He approached Dilari police station and complained against the particular family for brainwashing and abducting the teenager. Reportedly, the police didn’t file and FIR and failed to search for the minor on his complaint. Only after the issue reached higher levels, an FIR was registered against four accused and search for the minor began.

On Wednesday night, the family members accused by Gangaram in police report attacked his house. They beat up the old man as well as other members in the house. A severely injured Gangaram was taken to the hospital, and was declared ‘brought dead’.

Police station in-charge Deepak Kumar has been suspended by SSP Amit Pathak for dereliction of duty. The accused Safayat, his sons Danish, Chhotu, and one other person, Akram have been apprehended.

The police also stated that it wasn’t the family accused by Gangaram but another boy of the same village, Nadeem, who had abducted the minor. The girl was found and Nadeem has been arrested.
