Uttar Pradesh Biggest Beneficiary Of Indian Railways’ Oxygen Express Trains

Uttar Pradesh is on course to receive its seventh ‘Oxygen Express’ train as the state has been the beneficiary of the highest quantity of liquid medical oxygen (LMO); amounting to more than 356 metric tonne.

Meanwhile, the railway ministry revealed that the CM Yogi Adityanath-led administration has also pleaded for transportation of 10 feet ISO containers filled with LMO from Jamshedpur to Lucknow.

The seventh oxygen express, carrying three tankers of liquid medical oxygen, was slated to start from Bokaro in Jharkhand on Friday evening.

“Additional planning is required to transport ISO containers and railways officials are currently working on the best possible options to move ISO containers safely and securely,” the railway ministry’s statement read as per a report from the Economic Times.

It added, “Railways is in full preparedness to run even more Oxygen Express based on the requests from State Governments.”

On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh was also in line to receive 47.47 metric tonnes of LMO on Friday. Sagar and Jabalpur will receive the central state’s consignment of four tankers from Bokaro.

A train transporting 32 metric tonnes of the same in two tankers departed from Angul in Odisha to supply Haryana its first quota of oxygen. The national transporter has been working proactively to fulfill the demand of this critical component from several stated distressed with the current wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
