The work to lay the foundation for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya began on Monday (15 March).
The trustees of Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust including general secretary Champat Rai, trustees Dr Anil Mishra, Raja Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, Mahant Dinendra Das performed Vedic puja at the site before the commencement of the works.
“The work to fill the foundation for construction of Shri Ram Mandir commenced with Vedic Puja at Shri Ram Janmbhoomi today. Office bearers of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra and senior government officials were present on the occasion,” the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra said in a tweet.
Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust's general secretary Champat Rai on 7 March said that the construction of the grand temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya is likely to be completed in three years.
Rai said that the temple will be built in about two and a half acres of land and a wall will be built around it, which is called Parkota. He said that retaining walls will be built inside the ground to prevent the effects of floods. He added, "This work will be completed in three years and with this preparation we are doing all the work."
