Uttarakhand Disaster Unit Installs Quick Deployment Antenna For Connectivity In Remote Areas During Emergencies

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Thursday inaugurated the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF)‘s latest Quick Deployment Antenna (QDA) technology, ANI reports.
The QDA is a technology which is usually used by the national disaster response force (NDRF) and paramilitary forces to establish communication in remote places during emergency situations in the low to no network areas.
This will particularly benefit the state during emergency situations to send and receive voice or video calls. It will also enable successful transferring of data from no signal areas.
“There are two types of QDA systems, static and mobile. The static QDA will be established in SDRF headquarters in Jolly Grant, State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) Dehradun, or any other suitable location and mobile QDA will be sent to the respective disaster-affected areas with the help of a helicopter,” a statement from the SDRF read.
Senior officials have already completed successful trial runs of this QDA technology. Live video connections were set up in distant regions such as Tuni (Dehradun), Malari (Chamoli), Gunji (Pithoragarh) to test the proficiency of this system.
248 satellite phones have been distributed in zones that have low connectivity in the northern state.
