Uttarakhand: Garhwal MP Tirath Singh Rawat To Become New Chief Minister Of State

Tirath Singh Rawat, the former chief of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttarakhand and incumbent Lok Sabha MP from Garhwal constituency, will be the new Chief Minister of the hill state.
The development comes after state BJP MLAs met at party's headquarters in Dehradun to decide Trivendra Singh Rawat's successor.
It should be noted that Trivendra Singh Rawat submitted his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya on Tuesday (9 March), a day after meeting the top leadership of the party in Delhi.
In the BJP legislature party meeting, it was decided that Tirath Singh Rawat will become the next Chief Minister of the state.
Tirath Singh Rawat the BJP chief in Uttarakhand from 9 February 2013 to 31 December 2015 and is a former member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from Pauri district's Chaubttakhal constituency from 2012 to 2017, reports LiveMint.
The 56-year-old Tirath Singh Rawat's name was picked over prominent candidates including Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Uttarakhand Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
