Uttarakhand state employees and their families will get free checkups and medicines in outpatient departments (OPD) in hospitals of the state. The state’s health department has started preparations in this regard, Live Hindustan has reported.
Pathology labs and medicine centres are being marked by the department for free checkups and medicines for employees.
Other beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme will not be eligible for availing this facility and will only be provided to the employees of the state government.
The state government had decided to merge the U-health card scheme with Ayushman Bharat and provide cashless treatment facilities to all government employees and pensioners.
U-health scheme had a provision to provide cashless treatment to employees but only when they were admitted to the hospital.
Under the new scheme, state employees will be provided with free medical checkup as well as medicines during OPD treatment.
Dr Amalesh, Assistant Director of Ayushman Bharat Scheme said that after the issuance of the order, preparations are on for initiating of the scheme.
The process of registering pathology labs and drug centres by the department is ongoing.
More than 22 lakh families are being added in the Ayushman Bharat scheme by the Uttarakhand government. Under the scheme, treatment worth Rs five lakh can be availed by beneficiaries.
