The Indian Railways engine-less semi-high speed train, Vande Bharat Express has set a record of being punctual on almost all the days in April, the Financial Express reports.

The train commuted between Delhi and Varanasi in eight hours to create a punctuality record of not being late for even a second, an Amar Ujala report revealed. Further, for 25 days in April, the Vande Bharat Express, which halts at Kanpur and Allahabad junctions, reached the latter stop in just 6.08 hours, much before its scheduled arrival.

The unique punctuality record holds significant as the Indian Railways has always faced criticism for delays in their train services.

Train-18, a semi-fast train, was rebranded as Vande Bharat Express in January to acknowledge the Make In India status of the train. Made by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the first locomotive-less train of the country is regarded as a successor to the 30-year old Shatabdi. It was built in a record time of 18 months at the cost of Rs 97 crore.
