Veteran singer Narendra Chanchal passed away on Friday in Delhi. Reportedly, he was 80-years old and died at around 12 pm due to age-related issues. He was born in 1940 in Namak Mandi, Amritsar in the state of Punjab, India.
Chanchal gave voice to popular bhajans like ‘Tu Ne Mujhe Bulaya Sherawaliye’, ‘Chalo Bulawa Aaya Hai’ and ‘Bhor Bhayi’. The devotional songs sung by him are commonly played in Indian households as well as Bhakti concerts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to offer condolences. He said that he was deeply saddened by the demise of the popular singer who carved out a special place for himself in the world of singing by his voice.
Other singers like Daler Mehndi, Jaspreet ‘Jazim’ Sharma also offered their condolences and expressed sadness at the demise.
