Video on Demand (VoD) platform SonyLIV has selected dgital broadcast technology provider Planetcast Pictures Networks India to live broadcast sports feed, reports Television post. Planetcast has a professional-grade service for streaming media to audiences ranging in various sizes as well as a variety of devices.
After the successful screening of the FIFA World Cup 2018 on SonyLiv, Planetcast Media Services will continue powering Sony Pictures Networks India’s (SPNI) live sports streaming service.
SPNI has said that it will use the latest feed management and publishing platform of PlanetCast Media services to power live streaming of sports feed on its PMSL Facility at Mumbai.
The Director of Planetcast Media Services, MN Vyas, speaking about the arrangement said, “Planetcast’s live streaming platform is instrumental for global sporting events like FIFA, Asian Games as there has been a paradigm shift in the viewing pattern of such events. This shift in viewing pattern has opened up new revenue streams for the broadcasters. Planetcast’s live streaming technology is aimed at helping the broadcasters increase revenue by monetising their digital viewership.”
Planetcast will be using its hi-tech and intelligent feed management platform to receive/downlink around 30 feeds, which will then be converted into the house formats before publishing in the DRM enabled HLS format.
